Who we are

Venture Photos is operated by Astronomic Inc, a company based in Austin, Texas. When you use this website, you are sharing information with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

What we collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information — your name and email address when you create an account or log in.
• Photos you upload — selfies you submit to search for your photos, and event photos uploaded by photographers.
• Face scan data — when you upload a selfie, our AI analyzes your facial features to find matching photos. This is biometric data (see the AI Face Search section below).
• Payment information — billing details collected by Stripe when you purchase photos. We do not store your credit card number.
• Photographer information — name, email, payout email, and Stripe Connect account details for photographers on the platform.
• Usage data — pages you visit, actions you take, and your IP address, collected automatically via server logs and cookies.

AI face search and biometric data

When you upload a selfie to find your photos, our system extracts a numerical representation of your facial features (a "face embedding"). This is considered biometric data under Texas law (Texas Business & Commerce Code, Chapter 503) and similar state laws.

Here is what we do with it:

• We use your face embedding only to match you with photos from events you attended.
• We do not sell your biometric data to third parties.
• We do not use your face data for advertising or any purpose other than photo matching.
• Your face embedding is deleted within 30 days of your last search, or sooner if you delete your account.
• By uploading a selfie, you consent to this processing. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or emailing us.

How we use your information

• To match you with photos from events you attended.
• To process your photo purchases and deliver digital downloads.
• To send you order confirmations and account-related emails.
• To pay photographers their share of photo sales.
• To improve the platform and fix bugs.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Photo storage

All photos — including your selfie uploads and purchased event photos — are stored securely on Amazon S3 (Amazon Web Services). Photos are stored in the United States. Purchased photos are available for download for 12 months after purchase.

Payments

All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data. Photographer payouts are processed through Stripe Connect.

Cookies and sessions

We use cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features of the site may not work correctly.

Sharing your information

We share your information only in these situations:

• Stripe — to process payments and photographer payouts.
• Amazon Web Services — to store photos and files.
• Law enforcement — if required by law or a valid legal process.
• Business transfers — if Astronomic Inc is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer as part of that transaction.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for biometric data processing at any time.
• Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

Children

Venture Photos is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Travis County, Texas.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the site. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
